Wi-Fi Alliance® praises Ofcom’s decision to allow Wi-Fi® operations in 5.8 GHz

Ofcom published a decision to allow Wi-Fi use in the 5.8 GHz band. The decision will allow access to an additional 125 MHz of spectrum.

Austin, TX and Washington, D.C. – July 13, 2017 – Wi-Fi Alliance® praises UK Ofcom’s decision to allow Wi-Fi® operations in the 5.8 GHz band (5725 – 5850 MHz). Wi-Fi is one of the fastest growing technologies for delivering communications, commerce, and entertainment and requires additional spectrum capacity to maintain expected performance. Opening an additional 125 MHz will help alleviate Wi-Fi spectrum shortfall and benefit UK consumers and businesses.
