Wi-Fi Alliance® applauds FCC’s decisions in the Spectrum Frontiers proceeding

The Federal Communications Commission voted to adopt the second report & order (R&O) in the Spectrum Frontiers proceeding to take further action to facilitate the development of advanced wireless services and provide greater and more flexible access in spectrum bands above 24 GHz.

Austin, TX and Washington D.C. – November 16, 2017 – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) took another important step toward enabling innovative technologies of the future by voting to maintain the unlicensed use of the 64-71 GHz band and allowing unlicensed operation in the 57-71 GHz band on board aircraft. Wi-Fi Alliance® applauds today's FCC decisions as they will enable Wi-Fi® technologies such as WiGig® to more readily deliver 5G use cases, including multi-gigabit connectivity to air travelers. Today’s decisions will hasten delivery of next-generation Wi-Fi services and associated socioeconomic benefits.
