Wi-Fi Alliance Appoints New Head Chairman

Austin, TX, Aug. 8, 2005 - The Wi-Fi Alliance today announced it has elected Clint Chaplin, of Symbol Technologies, as its new Chairman. Chaplin previously served as the organization's Technical Chair and has been a board member since 2003. His appointment follows outgoing Chairman Bill Carney.

Chaplin is currently the standards team-lead and wireless security advisory at Symbol Technologies, Inc., and has more than 25 years of engineering experience in computer technology. He also serves as Chair of the IEEE 802.11r task group. Chaplin earned a bachelors of science in electronic engineering, a masters of science in computer science and a masters of engineering with a concentration in high-speed digital communications from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
