Bangkok, Thailand – December 9, 2024 – Wi-Fi Alliance® and Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University successfully completed a seven-month long pilot trial that showcased 6 GHz Wi-Fi® technologies that will transform the future of healthcare.
Wi-Fi®’s expansion into the 6 GHz frequency band delivers more than just faster connection speeds – it fundamentally changes how networks are deployed and managed. Utilizing this additional spectrum for Wi-Fi can support higher device densities, offer better network performance in crowded environments, and reduce congestion in the existing 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Making 6 GHz available to Wi-Fi not only offers enhanced connectivity, it also encourages investments in new technology that will drive future innovations.

The exponential growth of mobile data consumption poses a significant challenge to telecommunications service providers worldwide. With limited licensed spectrum available, telecom service providers are grappling with network congestion and slower data speeds that can result in a compromised user experience. The rapid growth of mobile data usage, projected to reach an average of 47 GB per smartphone monthly by 2028,1 has put immense pressure on existing spectrum resources.
